It’s the heart of England just before the Great War.
Charlotte Peake (the founder of the original Boxford Masques) is rattling
around the house her husband Henry has brought her to - from a busy life in London and
abroad. Charlotte longs for a child, but turns her restless mind to putting on a play, to be
performed by the staff of her country home and witnessed by her preposterous guests. But
the staff are divided, household against land, and as the play rehearses and the company
and guests mix, stresses and strains become laughably and touchingly, evident. In the
magnificent Queen Anne setting of Welford Park this sparkling new play by award winning
writer Geraldine McCaughrean will delight and entertain. Performed by a talented
community cast and featuring original live music and song throughout. Bring a picnic, bring
all the family, enjoy an unforgettable and unique summer evening.
