Our charity

As a registered charity we are dedicated to the advancement of the arts in West Berkshire.
We offer open access to disadvantaged groups in the community, the elderly, the differently abled, young people from all backgrounds, and those without easy access to the performance arts.  Each play has a huge impact on rural communities in West Berkshire providing art to those not easily able to travel to the bigger regional hubs, bringing people together and increasing their sense of community.

In particular, young people are encouraged to participate in and attend these plays.  The majority of the cast is under 25 and half the cast are usually of primary school age.  Everyone involved attends over thirty workshops in drama , dance and musical performance, all led by leading professionals.
For the majority of the cast, this is the first such experience they have had and amongst other benefits for them are:
  • a new appreciation of the arts
  • confidence from performing to a paying audience
  • education in drama, dance and music
  • an experience which is not available to many, particularly in rural West Berkshire
  • an event that brings together the community of Boxford and surrounding villages, and by necessity has young and old, as well as disabled people working together in teams for a common cause.

Party In The Park!

Summer is almost here and our fundraising continues towards a show next year!
Its time for Party in the Park!
Saturday 29th June from 12pm to late, we have a full day of great local live music, great local BBQ food, a fully stocked bar and many different  types of entertainment.
Headlining will be The Station, a local trio of unbounded talent. Supporting are OMP and Loose Covers; more talented locals busting out some seriously good music.
For the little ones, there will be children's entertainment in the hall and 'headlining' will be the marvellous Tall and Small Tales team putting on a very special children's show just for us!
We will even cater for the furry friends, with a fun Dog Show during the afternoon and there will be a selection of market stalls with everything from cakes to teapots to keep you excited.
A fully stocked bar will have an acoustic stage and feature some incredible vocals from local singers Aoife and Ella Skye amongst others.
All proceeds will go to The Boxford Village Hall and The Boxford Masques. It really will be a day not to miss!

Sad News
All of us at Boxford Masques are devastated to learn of the untimely passing of Jonny Harding this weekend.
Jonny was a stalwart of many Masques productions; a talented, engaging and skilled actor but also just a lovely man to spend many happy summers with.
We feel lucky to have enjoyed so many good times together and the laughter and memories will stay with us all.
Our thoughts are with all his family and friends at this awful time and thank you for all your commitment to the Masques; you will be very missed x
